Purchased as a $15/month add-on (special pricing only available to pair Networks customers), the Americart shopping cart service can be used with any account type that we offer, and does not require the Secure Server add-on. When used in conjunction with our entry-level FTP Account and a Virtual Domain, you can have a complete electronic commerce solution for as little as $20.95 per month.

How does Americart work?

You create your Web site containing your products. You add the Americart HTML tags to your pages. When customers click add to cart, the product information is tracked on the Americart servers. When customers click check out, the order is checked for correct field entry, and sent to you through email. You then process the order as if it were a conventional phone order.

Note: Complete credit card details are not sent in plain e-mail. For maximum security, credit card information is securely transmitted to you from the Americart Servers.

Do I need my own credit card merchant account to accept credit cards over the Internet?

Yes, you will need your own credit card merchant account, with any system or service you set up on the Web if you wish to accept credit cards. If you already have a merchant account and a method you are currently using to run charges, you are welcome to continue to use that account/method with Americart. There is no need to switch merchant accounts or to use any sort of real-time processing if you have no desire to do so.

Will I have to write or use CGI programs with Americart?

No, CGI is executed on Americart servers. All you need are standard HTML pages -- no scripting or programming is necessary.
